Danielle's Physique Competition Page!!

Welcome to my contest page updated for the 2011 off season and the 2012 contest season. This page is for all of you, whether you know about competitions or are brand new to the sport. The one constant to the bodybuilding industry is change .... industry, personal and professional and this year is no exception -- so follow along!!

The New Physique Division

In 2012, I will be making a major move from competing in figure to the brand new physique division. When I first started competing, the look for figure athletes was more hard core, carrying a lot of muscle and dieting down to look hard and carry very low levels of body fat on stage. As a result, I was very successful winning several teenage competitions and ultimately placing near the top in several national level shows (including 3rd in North America, in the "figure tall" height class). The softer look for figure just isn't suited to me, so I'm excited that there is a new division that is somewhere between figure / fitness and female bodybuilding. Staying away from the stage in 2011 allowed me to observe the competitors and the judging criteria for the new division.

The National Physique Committee (NPC) is the amateur domestic United States arm of the particular organization in which I compete, while the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) is the professional and international organization. National amateur shows award pro cards to athletes so that they can turn pro. I grew up in the NPC but that's not to say that there aren't a several other spectacular organizations, like the WBFF or the OCB. In fact I follow and cover all of them for FigureRX and Bodybuilding Weekly, and there are incredible competitors at all of the shows. Sticking with the NPC / IFBB however, here are sample ideals (in my opinion) for each of the existing divisions.
